Social Networking Relies on People Buying People-Don’t Forget That!

Hi there   Now for all of us online we need to be using all the marketing strategies we possibly can to get noticed and keep us in front of our potential customers. But hey it’s very competitive out there and certainly for us here in the UK it’s all doom & gloom on the high street with retailers going bust in volume, now bear with me & you’ll understand the point I’m making

Many blame online sales amongst many other reasons but if you delve a bit deeper & see those retailers who are really pulling through difficult trading times then its those that have embraced and now operate sales across multi platforms – online, offline, social networking sites etc with each driving customers to the other – so here’s my Top 4 Tips to get you started in social networking…..

4 Tips For Creating Your Company’s Social Networking Profile

Social networking is the big thing these days.  It’s an essential component in any online business’s marketing strategy.  The first step is to develop an overall strategy.  This will determine what site to use, who you want to attract and how to get their attention.  Once you’ve got this mapped out in your mind, it’s time to get started making your profile.  Here are 4 tips to make it easier on you:

1.  Include Some Personality

People are interested in other people.  While a purely company site can be a legitimate presence, identifying no human beings behind it can give the impression there is something to hide.  Try to include some names and faces.  This gives the social networking profile a more personal feeling and encourages contact.

2.  Keep It Professional

While you will enjoy showing some names a faces behind the business, keep it on a professional level.  There is no need to post personal details.  If you want to connect with friends and family, do it on a personal page.  Remember the purpose for which you decided to create the social networking profile.  It can be tempting to increase your number of followers by encouraging people from your personal life, but you want to give a professional image.  It’s best not to sacrifice your intended purpose for the sake of bolstering your stats.

3.  Add Images And Movies

You can give inside information by including pictures and video.  Many people enjoy seeing these because they add an additional level of depth to the page.  Sometimes, a video can be a worthy announcement in and of itself.  You can tell the people who join your page that a new movie has been added and they should check it out.  As with the written details, try to keep the images and videos relevant and professional.

4.  Adjust Your Settings

There are some administrative settings you’ll need to adjust when you first join.  Most sites allow you to set a policy for who can leave messages on your page.  It’s a good idea not to leave this open for a free-for-all because it can be abused.  However, you don’t want it to be so restrictive that nobody can comment.  You can also set restrictions on the nature of content posted.  Many sites have settings for NAFW, or Not Appropriate For Work.  You don’t want people posting pictures that can smear your company image.  So take the time to learn some of the administrative settings and set them appropriately.  Then, your social networking profile will be protected.

Each social networking site walks you through profile creation.  It will tell you how complete your profile is.  You should always complete your profile 100% for the best results.  Once you’re profile is done, it’s time to start looking for followers.

Right so now take action and get networking
