Hi there
Today I’m going to cover a method of virtually ‘hands free’ production creation that I have used with some success. Ok I tell a little white lie here because as with anything its not totally ‘hands free’ – you still need to do a little bit of work, but rest assured not a lot!
So sit back and listen up and you’ll find I’ve touched on this in the past
Method
Outsource your entire project.
Now before we go any further I know you’ll be thinking ‘oh that sounds expensive’ and I’d be lying if I said there no cost obviously there is, but here’s the thing if you plan it properly (that’s where the small amount of work is!) then it needn’t cost a fortune, believe me I have done it with good results.
Here’s your 8 Step Plan:
- Write a short brief including niche, what the report or e-book needs to achieve, how long you want it to be, with or without photos, chapter headings and conclusion. Top Tip – if you’re not sure about any of these check out the competition (if not in your niche in one closely associated to it). The more detailed information you give the more chance you’ll ‘get what you want’ – that make sense
- Visit some of the outsourcing sites – there’s loads, as Ive already mentioned I’ve used www.elance.com, (now called upwork.com but link still works)also www.textbroker.com but search in Google and you’ll find a load more. Top Tip – get comfortable with the processes for each site, its not tricky but you do need to understand it.
- Post your requirement on a couple of these sites. Now don’t give the full brief you’ve written at this stage. Just do something simple. “Want a 94 page e-book written in xxx niche, supplied in xxx format within xxx timescale. Must be totally unique, in good English, grammatically correct & I will copyscape – bids please.”
- Sit back, relax & wait. You’ll be amazed what you get back. Top Tip – don’t rush in give it at least a week from your post then check out the response, most will offer up examples of their work and testimonials.
- You MUST read the examples and the testimonials and don’t get suckered in just on price – believe me I have done that with terrible results – I tell cheap it was but cheerful it wasn’t, we had to have it re-written so not only did it cost us time but also more money – so cheap beware! The old adage “Cheap as Chips” is not the best way I can assure you
- .Ok hopefully now from your analysis spreadsheet you have several of interest. So now go back to your original detailed brief and pump it out to them setting a timeline for them to respond with their interest and cost. Top Tip – ask for their ideas/thoughts etc – this can be really valuable, they may suggest something you’ve totally overlooked – that could be really cool.
- Get their feedback & make a decision. Now Top Tip here – check out the payment options, some of the outsourcing sites operate differently but certainly my preferred (and it should be yours) method is whereby you lodge your payment with the site and it is not released to the writer until both you the client and the writer are satisfied that its ‘Job well done’
- Ok sit back wait for your job to be completed, plan out your marketing and route to market, write your sales letter (you could even out source that as well) and your ‘good to go’
So there you have it, my 8 Step Guide to successful outsourcing. Hope you’ve found this useful
Kind regards
Tony
