Ok so now we’ll get to the really exciting bit. Your checklist is virtually complete, you’ve done the time consuming bit, research – yep it takes time but its certainly time very well spent if you’re serious about really having a business on the internet.

Also bear this in mind, the first couple of times you do research it’s pretty time consuming and hard work, yep certainly is, blimey  and then we’d get to the point when I would say “oh that’s good enough”.

I used to share it out, again outsourcing research is not tricky  and having another pair of eyes on a subject can really pay dividends as sometimes they would find another little gem of information that suddenly turned the whole project on its head, so yes I know its hard, sometimes boring but get it done & done properly – you’ll kick yourself later if you don’t.

Now What?

Anyway here you are, research done, product created – no what? Well you need to have a website to promote and sell your product – simple. Now you really need to sit back take a big breath and listen – ‘you don’t need a fancy website with loads of graphics to sell an e-book’. Ok now I’ve said it just go back & consider the statement I’ve just made, and then read on…

Sounds too good to be true I know but consider this get yourself a blog set up, it’s a website, its simple to set up, free apart form getting a domain and hosting and here’s the great bit – search engines love them!

Top Tips:

Do buy a domain with your niche name/main keywords in it – there’s loads of domain name providers out there, I’ve used several over the years

Ie: if you plan to sell a book on rose gardening for beginners – then you’ve guessed it, try & get rose, gardening, and beginners in the domain.

 Do use WordPress as your blog platform. It’s free, easy to use & robust

 Do have your own hosting – your then in control. Your own domain, hosting etc means you wont get shut down. Yes there are other blog platforms out there but in my experience I prefer to a} have control and b} WordPress is pretty idiot-proof even for someone like me!

Now at this stage you’re possibly a bit confused and I reckon what’s going through your mind is “Ok set up a blog but how am I going to sell my beautifully crafted e-book off a bog?”

Good question and the right one to be asking. Here’s my take on it.

Search engines love blogs, blogs get listed faster and that’s what I want

I’m in my niche for more that just selling one product, therefore I want to become ‘recognised’ & ‘known’ in my niche. Posting regularly to my blog will get me recognised.

If as I’ve identified I want to sell other product and get ‘back end’ sales – I need to build a list. A name capture devise on my blog will start to achieve that.

But guys it’s worth mentioning here, list building is probably THE Most Important element to building a successful, profitable and most importantly sustainable Internet marketing business. You will have heard the phrase “The Money’s in the List”

Its easy to direct my blog readers to landing page, capture email address, offer a free report and then direct to my e-book sales page

That in a nutshell guys is why I like blogs, simple, easy even for someone like me who’s not a techie at all, blimey my techie experience is just enough to break things so the whole idea of ‘creating a fancy website’ scares me ridged, so why sweat it when you don’t have to.

You’rer currently reading one, as this is my blog about my internet marketing and online business experience – I link my Facebook page to my blog by posting blogposts onto my Facebook page and in turn driving traffic form my facebook page back to my blog – all the time I’m building my profile online and developing my “real estate” online. Yes it takes time but I’m here for the long term.
