Don’t Buy A Domain Name Before Reading This!

Hi there!

Now you wouldn’t believe just how often I get comments, emails etc from beginners asking About keywords, their research etc – its probably the most asked for element and one that if you either don’t do it or get it wrong will undoubtedly cost you dearly both in lack of traffic and most importantly time. So listen up.

Get The Basics Right First

Keyword research is the first thing you should do before you build a website.  It’s going to determine everything about it, including the name.  Take some time first to find one primary keyword and some secondary keywords to target.  This is how you dominate in the Google SERPs.

Top Tip

Research keywords even before choosing a domain name, that’s right it’s really that important. Why? Because if you can find keywords within the niche you’ve chosen that you can dominate due primarily to the lack of competition – then my friends that’s how you choose the domain name & finally try and get the keyword at the front of the domain (not always possible but at least try)

Are keywords really so important?

There’s some debate on this and were not going to go there because the answer is yes.  When it comes to on-page SEO, keywords are the basis of everything we do.  Keywords are how people find your site, period.  End of argument.

The first step is to find the right keywords.  You need to find keywords that get lots of searches, that are relevant to your niche and that are moneymakers.
