Does Anyone Make Money From A Blog?

Hi there

I hope things are going well for you!  Today, I’m going to unravel  – how to make money blogging.  It’s not hard to do at all.  The only challenges are picking a good niche and creating killer content.  Once you do that, set it on autopilot and let the money roll in.

Niche blogging is just what it sounds like – blogging in a certain niche.  What makes it different from a regular blog is that it’s laser-targeted.  It’s focused on a very specific hobby or interest rather than trying to be more wide-ranging.  This is the key to why niche blogs are so successful.

I decided that the best way to write this would be to teach you step-by-step so that you can follow along and do it right away.  So, let’s get to the first step…

Pick Your Niche

This is not only the first but also the most important step.  Lots of people spin their wheels endlessly trying to figure out what to blog about.  It’s much simpler than you might imagine and I’ll break it up into baby steps for you.

The first baby step is to make a huge list of all of your hobbies and interests.  Think back over the years and make a massive list of everything you’re even vaguely into.  I’m not talking about a list of 10 things – I’m talking more like 100!  The more stuff you can think of, the better.

Research is Key

Now, go through that list and decide which of your interests are popular.  How do you do this?  A little Google-powered market research can help.  First, check each niche to see if people are talking about it.  Look for online forums.  There are forums for just about everything, so find one that’s for your interest and see how many people are on it.

You can also find out how popular a niche is by looking at all the products available in that niche.  Check ClickBank or other online marketplaces to see what people are buying.  If you see lots of people buying the same products, this is a good sign.  It means that there’s high demand but not a lot of stuff for sale – in other words, perfect room for you to step in!

Competition check it out

You should also see what kind of competition you’ll be up against.  It’s actually good if there’s a little competition.  This means that there’s a market for your niche.  But if it’s saturated, that’s not good because you’ll have a hard time making your blog stand out.

Once you’ve got your list narrowed down, ask yourself a few questions:

– Can I blab pretty much endlessly on this topic (that’s basically what blogging is!)?

– Can I think of a unique angle that nobody else seems to be covering?

If you can find a unique hook or angle, you’ve got it made.  Some examples of good niche blogs are blogs about certain types of foods or recipes, specific outdoor activities or sports, aspects of technology or the Internet, etc.  Take a broad, general niche (health, technology, self-help, etc.) and choose something specific within it.
