Affiliate Programs Compared Part 2

By

Hi and welcome back to part 2 of our coverage of Affiliate Programs. As you’ll recall we covered the 3 big players last time round but today we’ll concentrate on 2 others that are very much worth getting involved with, so lets get started ……

PayDotCom

Of all the smaller networks, PayDotCom is one of the most popular.  It lets you list tangible products in addition to digital products.  This gives you more to choose from.

One of the best things about PayDotCom is that you’re in control of basically everything.  The product owner pays you directly, which means that you have more control (IF they’re reliable).  You can also choose whether or not to issue refunds on a case-by-case basis.

On PayDotCom, you can sell as many products as you want, unlike ClickBank and the others, which are a bit restrictive.  For example, ClickBank only lets you sell one product per account, and there’s a $49.95 fee to set up a new account.  With PayDotCom, you pay a one-time fee of $29 and you can sell as many products as you’d like.

The downside of this affiliate network is that you can get ripped off.  Because you’re in control and the transactions are largely between you and the merchant, there’s not much protection.  You have to spend some time on the site getting to know people in order to find trustworthy merchants.

Commission Junction

Commission Junction is another good affiliate network.  They have lots of products for you to choose from and everything is paid through CJ so you don’t have to worry about getting ripped off.  Commission Junction is into quality control so they only sell good products.

Some affiliate networks are strict about where your links can come from.  For example, ClickBank doesn’t allow email links because of spam.  At CJ, links can come from basically anywhere and this is another big advantage.

The disadvantage of Commission Junction is that they’re so serious about screening that they sometimes make it difficult for you even if you’re an honest marketer.  There are reports of them banning accounts with little or no reason and they have weird policies about PPC ads.  Sometimes when you run a campaign, you have to wait for them to approve it.

All of these affiliate networks have their good and bad points.  I recommend trying out a few and seeing how they treat you because everybody’s tastes and needs are different. But after all the most important thing is to get started, get stuck in and start earning then you can refine and try others to build a worthwhile return on your investment of time.
